Jeepney drivers in the Philippines protest over ‘modernisation’ rules

In the Philippines, drivers of privately-owned buses known as jeepneys have once again been out on the streets to protest against government plans to modernise the service.

It comes a day after they were given a deadline to join co-operatives in the next two-to-three years.
The drivers are also being told to replace their buses with more eco-friendly vehicles.
