Air New Zealand has become the first major airline to abandon its 2030 climate goal, citing challenges in fleet upgrades and the high costs of alternative jet fuels. The Airline, which had pledged to reduce its carbon intensity by 28.9% from 2019 levels, announced that global supply chain delays and affordability issues with fuel-efficient aircraft have made the target unachievable.
