Kashmir politician released from jail: Provincial elections for first time in a decade
A politician from Indian administered Kashmir who successfully ran for parliament from jail is now back home to campaign for the upcoming regional election.
The opposition is accusing the governing B-J-P of enabling Sheikh Abdul Rashid’s release on bail to split their votes, an allegation the B-J-P has rejected.
It will be the first regional election since Kashmir’s special status was taken away by the Narendra Modi government in 2019.
