Israel attacks Lebanon: Hezbollah confirms killing of its commander in Beirut

Lebanon’s armed group Hezbollah has announced the death of one of its top commanders amid Israel’s intense bombardment of the country.
Hezbollah confirmed that the “mujahid leader” Ibrahim Muhammad Qubaisi “Hajj Abu Musa” had been killed in a post on Telegram early on Wednesday, hours after the Israeli military said he had been “eliminated” in an air strike on Ghobeiri in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
The strike killed six people in total and wounded at least 15 others, according to the Lebanese government.
The Israeli military said that Qubaisi was responsible for recent rocket attacks on Israel.
The situation in Beirut last night was tense, although it slightly calmed as the evening progressed.
Many residents are considering leaving the city, heading to the mountains or further north, following the influx of tens of thousands displaced from southern Lebanon over the past two days due to intense Israeli bombardment across the country. Families have been arriving in Beirut, filling hotels in the downtown area. Lebanese Environment Minister Nasser Yassin announced the opening of 252 schools to shelter 27,000 displaced people. The total number displaced in the conflict now exceeds 110,000.
