Lebanon displacement crisis: Beirut charities serve hundreds daily amid urgent calls for aid

A non-profit kitchen in Beirut, started by five volunteers after the 2020 port explosion, now serves nearly 100 people daily. Nation Station prepares 700 meals to assist those displaced by Israeli airstrikes. Another charity, “Our Way to the Sky,” also contributes by providing 600 meals daily. These efforts are crucial for nearly one million Lebanese affected by the ongoing conflict, raising concerns about a potential humanitarian crisis. The United Nations World Food Programme has provided aid to over 65,000 individuals and has launched an urgent appeal for $30 million to meet rising needs. Meanwhile, the government’s emergency committee has requested additional support, warning that resource replenishment is becoming increasingly difficult. With no diplomatic resolution in sight, fears of escalating conflict loom large.

Al Jazeera’s Dorsa Jabbari reports from Beirut.
