US, 40 countries tell Israel to end attacks on UN peacekeepers in Lebanon
The US has expressed concern to Israel after its troops fired on UN peacekeeper positions in Lebanon.
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin called his Israeli counterpart, Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, demanding the safety of the UN Lebanon peacekeeping force, known as UNIFIL.
40 nations contributing to UNIFIL have also signed a joint statement, reaffirming the protection of peacekeepers.
