Sudan’s conflict enters second year as the army pushes back RSF, seizing key strategic areas

Sudan’s conflict has entered its second year, with General Abdel Fatah Al Burhan’s forces launching a counter-offensive against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The army has made advances, seizing two bridges across the Nile and the strategic Jebel Moya mountain, cutting off RSF access to the Blue Nile region. However, the RSF maintains control over much of Kordofan and Darfur, besieging Al-Fasher. While Burhan’s gains are notable, sustaining momentum remains uncertain as both sides engage in intense fighting, with negotiations currently stalled.
