War on Gaza: Diaper prices soar as parents struggle to afford basic necessities
Gaza’s high costs and low income make diapers a luxury. 1.7 million displaced Palestinians face dire sanitation issues and Hepatitis A.
With prices around $1 per diaper change, many parents are forced to find alternatives, such as pieces of cloth, due to unemployment and the high cost of living. The situation is worsened by the lack of aid and basic hygiene products, making survival the main priority for the people of Gaza.
The United Nations estimates that displaced Palestinians face a ticking health time bomb, with one shower for 2,000 people and around 500 people sharing a single toilet.
With Israeli attacks intensifying and more people forced to move, the situation is becoming increasingly dire.
