Attacks in Sudan’s al-Jazirah state: RSF accused of village attack that killed 100

One of Sudan’s civil resistance committees says, more than one hundred people have been killed by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.

They say the attack happened in the Wad al-Noura village in al-Jazirah State, and came in two waves.
The committee shared video of bodies in the public square.
It says it’s still waiting for the final number of dead and injured, but is calling it a massacre.
It also says RSF fighters looted the village and many women and children fled the area.

There’s also been further fighting between Sudan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces in the western city of el-Fasher.
Both sides are using heavy weapons and artillery.
Violence erupted there in mid-May.
The city serves as a hub for humanitarian operations.
The RSF fighters and the army have been at war since April last year.

Waleed Madibo is President of the Sudan Policy Forum, a think-tank focusing on governance and international relations.
He says Sudanese civilians are caught in the middle between the army and paramilitary fighters, and paying the highest price.
