Celebrity Fashion Flops That Make Us Feel Better About Our Own Wardrobes

Celebrity Fashion Flops That Make Us Feel Better About Our Own Wardrobes

Many of us look up to celebrities as inspiration: we adore their talent, their persistence, their lifestyle, and most importantly, their impeccable sense of fashion. With the right attitude, the financial means, and loads of confidence, it seems like celebrities are always dressed to impress. Even when walking down the street to grab a cup of coffee, it seems like A-listers always look amazing. Well, that’s what we used to think before we laid eyes on the following images, which show moments when celebrities lost their sense of style and made some pretty questionable fashion choices, that are anything but admirable or inspiring.

Nicki Minaj

The chance to walk the red carpet before an awards show is something that many people fantasize about. It’s so fun to dream up what beautiful outfit you might wear. But, unfortunately, when Nicki Minaj walked the red carpet in 2011 for the Grammy Awards, she didn’t seem concerned with glamorous dresses.

Many red carpet celebs make interesting fashion statements, and Nicki is no stranger to bold style choices. On this night, she opted for a cheetah look. And boy, was she all in! Every single part of her had cheetah print on it, including her hair. Unfortunately, however, this ensemble by Givenchy failed to become the cat’s meow.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga is one celebrity who’s never afraid to make waves, and this is one of her most infamous outfits to this day. She’s had many outrageous fashion moments, so narrowing down her most questionable one is pretty challenging. However, her meat dress at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards certainly stands out among her most unforgettable outfits.

Lady Gaga’s dress was constructed from actual raw meat, so naturally, it couldn’t be made until the same week of the awards. At least she was considerate enough to avoid wearing rotting, smelly beef in public. However, we question the wisdom of walking around covered in raw meat. At the very least, she risked spreading salmonella to all other guests. To this day, people wonder about the actual statement behind this statement piece.

Katy Perry

Aside from being a talented singer, Katy Perry is a very bold fashionista. She isn’t afraid to experiment with her look, which can result in some super awesome styles. Sadly, she has had a few fashion casualties along the way, as well. For example, Katy was photographed leaving one of her concerts one night wearing a onesie.

While a onesie may not sound like a horrible choice, we beg to differ, considering it was covered in a pepperoni pizza print from head to toe. This onesie by Beloved costs $100, which is a lot of money for the average person to spend on pajamas. If we’re going to spend that kind of dough on pepperoni, we’ll save it for actual pizza.

Ezra Miller

Celebrities can get away with all sorts of fashion experiments that us ordinary people could never pull off, but that doesn’t mean they should! Take this Montclair and Pierpaolo Piccioli gown, for example. Ezra Miller wore this $3,500 monstrosity to the premiere of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindlewald in 2018.

Frankly, we aren’t sure what this outfit is supposed to be. It looks like a puffer coat began to expand and expand, trying to eat poor Ezra whole. Ezra’s a very talented actor, but this fashion choice makes us think he’s slightly less talented in picking out clothes. Somebody call a stylist, please!

Billy Porter

Singer and actor Billy Porter is well known for his unique fashion taste on the red carpet. Porter seems to be trying to make a few political statements with his dramatic outfits. In the past, he used his red-carpet looks to fight for women’s abortion rights, the LGBTQAI+ community, and anti-bullying. But what was he trying to say with his outfit for the 2023 Golden Globe?

In 2019 Porter went viral for wearing a velvet tuxedo gown by Christian Siriano at the Oscar Ceremony. This year, the duo worked together again when Porter was dressed in a bright pink tuxedo overlay gown by the same designer. Porter said in an interview that after his stunning outfit of 2019, many men were inspired to wear gowns, so it appears that he decided to resurrect the statement.

Doja Cat – Part 1

Nominated for three Grammy Awards and six Billboard Music Awards, singer Doja Cat started her career on SoundCloud and now has an impressive number of followers on TikTok. Known for her irreverent style, she caught everyone’s attention when she arrived at Schiaparelli’s spring 2023 fashion show during Paris Haute Couture Week. The collection was inspired by Dante’s Inferno and nine circles of hell. This literary classic rich in symbolism, influenced cultural creation at the time it was written and, as Schiaparelli has demonstrated, continues to do so today.

Doja brought her interpretation of the masterpiece to her look. Named “Doja’s Hell,” the singer appeared wearing gorgeous red vestments. But she took the outfit to a new level when spending five hours at the hands of beauty expert Pat McGrath to have her entire body painting on red and covered in 30,000 red Swarovski crystals, fixed one by one. We can’t even imagine the absolute hell of waiting five hours to be ready.

Ciara

Ciara is usually a super stylish celeb. She’s always on top of the latest trends and ordinarily looks stunning, no matter what she wears. That’s why this fashion misstep was such a surprise. When she stepped out in this menswear ensemble by Givenchy, she turned many heads, but for all the wrong reasons.

Where to begin with this clothing catastrophe? First, it’s completely shapeless, making the singer look totally frumpy. Second, her high buttoned-up collar, combined with the baggy t-shirt, is not a flattering pairing. Then the short-in-front, long-in back skirt is super awkward. Finally, sagging white leggings and white sneakers under it all only completes this rumpled mess from head to toe.

Katie Price

You might not be able to tell from this photo, but Katie Price is an English media personality and glamour model. As such, she’s pretty used to being in the public eye. She seems to embrace the attention, considering she starred in a reality TV show. No doubt she was trying to attract attention when she attended the fifth-anniversary celebration of an equestrian club in this get-up.

This custom-made, pink pony suit sure seems fitting for an equestrian-themed party – or a Halloween party. The only problem, though, is that this wasn’t a costume party. We’re sure it cost Katie a pretty penny, but was it worth it? Since it just seems weird to wear a horse outfit anywhere, we’re going to say she probably didn’t get the reaction she was hoping for.

Perez Hilton

Oops! Did you ever leave the house feeling like you forgot something important, like your wallet or phone? Celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton seems to have forgotten something important at home when he went out for Fashion Week in 2009. He donned a giant Mickey Mouse t-shirt alongside a pair of gold hi-top sneakers. What he failed to remember to add, however, was a pair of pants.

We aren’t sure what Perez was hoping to accomplish with this look. Was he going for shock value by exposing so much of himself, or was he hoping the shirt could double as a mini-dress? Either way, it was a colossal fashion fail that we hope never to have to relive.

Kim Kardashian

Pregnant women often have a difficult time feeling attractive. Their newly enormous belly causes them to feel very self-conscious. On top of that, it’s nearly impossible to find anything that fits and is flattering at the same time. So what was poor Kim to do when she attended her first Met Gala as a pregnant lady, which is famous for its fashion?

Kim opted for this high-necked dress from Givenchy, complete with matching gloves and heels. Unfortunately, the print on this dress made her look like our grandmother’s couch and curtains. On the other hand, she was probably very comfortable, and at least the slit up the leg helped break up the overwhelming pattern. Still, this is one outfit best forgotten.

Tina Turner

Tina Turner, the iconic music legend, was renowned not only for her electrifying performances but also for her ever-changing wardrobe on stage. She was a true fashion chameleon, dazzling her audience with stunning outfits that perfectly matched her dynamic presence. From sparkling sequined dresses that shimmered under the spotlight to sleek leather ensembles that exuded rock ‘n’ roll energy, Tina Turner’s style knew no boundaries.

Each performance was a fashion spectacle, as she effortlessly transitioned from glamorous gowns to edgy jumpsuits, capturing the essence of every song she belted out with her powerful voice. Her sartorial choices enhanced her stage presence, as she radiated confidence and charisma in every ensemble. Tina Turner’s fashion evolution was a testament to her artistry and boldness, leaving an indelible mark on the music industry and inspiring generations to embrace their own unique sense of style.

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber was just a 16-year-old kid when he had his first smash success in 2010 with “Baby.” Back then, he was a clean-cut kid with a pretty bland style. His style evolved as did his success (and his bank account increased). By 2013, he had a full-blown aesthetic going on; it just wasn’t a very chic one.

Justin’s signature look included super baggy pants, whose crotch hung down to his knees (it was fashionable back in the day, go figure). However, these voluminous pants aren’t the only problematic part of his outfit here. The purple leopard print is undoubtedly eye-catching, but it’s a little busy when paired with his bright graphic sweatshirt and cheerful yellow hat. And don’t get us started on the hat spikes!

Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner doesn’t need introductions, as we all know her from Kardashian’s reality shows since she was a teenager. She arrived in Paris for fashion week, and we haven’t recovered yet from her outfit at the Schiaparelli Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2023. Wearing a ruched black velvet gown, she shocked everyone when she showed up with a huge lion’s head connected to the dress.

Sitting on the show’s first line, Jenner was surprised by model Irina Shayk wearing the exact same outfit walking down the runway. The moment was probably planned, but the internet couldn’t handle it, and it quickly went viral! Although Kylie confirmed that the lion is synthetic, animal defenders considered it exaggerated and disturbing. Meanwhile, others said the style honors the charm of lions and perhaps serves as a protest against sport hunting. Well, one thing that the internet can agree is that it was a controversial outfit.

Donald Glover

Multi-talented Donald Glover, also known as his rapper alter ego Childish Gambino, always surprises us with his unique outfits and bold fashion statements. When they are not overly relaxed and cozy, his compositions have a nostalgic vibe that is most reminiscent of the 1970s. Styled by Saint Laurent, the creator and star of Atlanta had only one request: He wanted to be comfortable for the Golden Globe Awards.

The stylist interpreted Glover’s need for comfort into light, informal clothing in his style, showing off his chest and necklace, which he adores. He opted for an eccentric look wearing a silky pajama set piece resembling a kimono with pockets. The only component of the ensemble that could be referred to as “conventional” was the oversized tux jacket which intensified the ’70s mood.

Rose McGowen

It can be difficult to feel cute when you’re caught in a rainstorm. Rain gear is usually oversized and formless, a necessity to keep as much of you dry as possible. On top of that, it covers up your carefully planned ensemble. However, actress Rose McGowen seems determined to not let a little thing like rain hide her bright sweater.

Rose’s choice of rain gear is somewhat questionable, though. A see-through raincoat seems like a good idea on the face of it, but the execution of this one is odd. It doesn’t have sleeves, only slits to stick your arms through. That’s doesn’t seem very effective in keeping anybody dry! Next time, perhaps Rose should just get a cute rain jacket instead.

Jaden Smith

The son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, Jaden Smith grew up with famous parents, so he’s probably used to unusual situations. However, when he found himself invited to Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s wedding in Italy, he made the odd choice to wear a costume to their nuptials. He decided that it would be a great idea to wear a white Batman costume on their special day.

Weddings are typically pretty formal events, where most men wear either tuxedos or suits. It’s one of the most important days for the couple exchanging vows, and all eyes are supposed to be on them. But, instead, the bride and groom had to put up with a teenager expressing his sense of fashion through a bizarre white Batman costume.

Celine Dion

There’s nothing wrong with popping on a sweatshirt and a pair of jeans to run errands. In fact, this sweatshirt looks super comfortable. It actually pairs very nicely with her fitted jeans. The only problem is – of course – this Titanic graphic. But we can understand Celine’s attachment to the movie, considering she sang the mega-hit song from the film.

Celine’s sweatshirt isn’t included on this list because it looks like a disaster. Instead, we’re more horrified by its price; you’ll probably be shocked, too, when we tell you what she spent on it. Would you believe this hoodie by Vetements costs $800? We’re all for investing in great articles of clothing, but this just seems like a colossal waste of money.

Runway? No Way

Fashion runways are full of outrageous stylings. Often, a lot of what makes its way to the stage is more art than fashion. Accordingly, this dress looks more like a goofy Halloween costume than a wearable outfit. Moschino designed this dress that looks just like a dry-cleaning bag, complete with a plastic covering and a hanger!

The wire hangar headband is silly, but the tube sock purse is just kind of icky. At least it’s clean, right? We have to wonder what kind of statement the designer was trying to make. Is it a commentary on the need for clothing that’s easier to wash at home? Or is it intended to encourage more people to support their local dry cleaner?

Kim Kardashian – Part 2

When it comes to fashion, everybody knows that you have to take risks sometimes to get people onto a new trend. And there is no one that likes to make a ruckus in the fashion world than Kim Kardashian. Her most recent Met Gala look had people confused if it was her at all…

The Met Gala always has a theme attached to it, and the theme of 2021 was “In American: A Lexicon of Fashion”. Many interpreted this differently, but no one else’s look was quite as shocking as Kim Kardashian’s. How did she see the whole evening?

Harry Styles

2021 was a year of many firsts for everyone. But one of those things has got to be the way in which people relate to fashion and gender. There have been many people and celebrities pushing the boundaries as of late with what it means to dress according to a particular gender.

And Harry Styles was one of those celebrities pushing the boundaries when he did his Vogue shoot back in 2020. We’re not sure how any man could make this dress look incredible, but somehow Harry Styles has managed to do just that.

Jared Leto

When it comes to some celebrities, they aren’t very concerned with how others see them. Sure, they have an ego just like everyone else does, but their want to push boundaries and question the norm is far greater than their need to please people and be in tune with their expectations.

And it is safe to say that Jared Leto is definitely one of those celebrities as he paid tribute to Lagerfeld’s cat, Choupette… Judging from his 2023 Met Gala look, he isn’t too phased by what people will say about him. I mean, if you are comfortable dressing up as a literal cat on the red carpet, then we assume you don’t care what others think.

Doja Cat – Part 2

Seeing as the 2023 Met Gala theme was paying respect to the late and great designer Karl Lagerfeld, every celebrity in attendance did so in their own special way. Even though their fashion choices might not have made sense to everyone, that wasn’t necessarily the point…

Doja Cat came to the Met Gala dressed in head-to-toe Oscar De La Renta, but it wasn’t your typical couture gown… Embellished with rhinestones and glitter, this piece came with a matching headpiece. Apparently, more than one star thought to pay homage to Choupette at the 2023 Met Gala…

Jordan Roth

When it comes to the Met Gala, there are many people in attendance every year that might seem unfamiliar to the regular person. But just because they aren’t a typical celebrity doesn’t mean that they don’t have a place at one of the most prestigious events of the year.

President of the Jujamcyn Theaters on Broadway, Jordan Roth, just attended his fourth Met Gala and was actually right on theme. Paying homage to the late designer Karl Lagerfeld, Roth wore a dress adorned with a sequenced fan, one of Lagerfeld’s most prized accessories.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky

Every year at the Met Gala, there are certain celebrities that show up wearing something completely outrageous, and it always divides people and their opinions. And whilst these questionable outfits can certainly throw off a crowd, they are most definitely entertaining.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky always know how to make an entrance… Not only were they some of the last celebrities to arrive at the 2023 Met Gala, but they also chose rather eccentric outfits… Not that we would expect anything less. But hey, at least they know how to turn a few heads.

Lil Nas X

Whilst certain celebrities are known to push boundaries and cause a scene, there are some that undoubtedly do it better than others. The Met Gala is always a good time for people to challenge other people’s expectations and assumptions, and this year Lil Nas X did just that.

Paying respects to Lagerfeld’s cat, Choupette, Lil Nas X showed up covered in silver from head to toe, with rhinestones and whiskers to match. We have learned not to expect the ordinary from Lil Nas X, so this particular look seems pretty on theme for him and his style, no matter how wild it is.

Alton Maison

Being a model, you have so many opportunities to dress up and be a different character for a short while. Regardless of who you are or what you look like, this aspect of modeling can allow someone to feel like they have the power to be whoever they want to be.

And it’s clear that 25-year-old model Alton Maison channeled that exact energy for the 2023 Met Gala. Dressed as a Chanel bride, Maison decided to do something a little outlandish for the Met Gala… However, we’re not sure this is how Chanel brides usually look…

Erykah Badu

It seems like the number one rule of the Met Gala these days is to shock people… Don’t get us wrong; we like having the element of shock thrown into the mix at big events like the Met Gala; however, sometimes it can be a little hard to decipher what is even unfolding in front of us.

Singer-Songwriter Erykah Badu paid her respects to the late designer Karl Lagerfeld by wearing one of his signature colors, white. Whilst we don’t mind the tassels hanging off the dress, it seems particularly strange that we are unable to see her face. Next time she should try fewer tassels…

Emma D’Arcy

Emma D’Arcy is probably most known for her superb performance as Rhaenyra Targaryen in the HBO series House of the Dragon. In the show, they play a queer character, while in real life, D’Arcy identifies as a non-binary person. Emma discussed how this character ended up fitting her persona in an interview, noting that Rhaenyra likewise battles valiantly against the gender stereotypes of her day.

Nominated for the first time for the Golden Globe 2023 for best drama actress in a TV Series, the actor chose for their outfit a black, oversized tuxedo jacket over black pants, a matching, slim column skirt, a white button-up shirt, and black boots with studding details. At the occasion, they highlighted how their appearance also expressed their gender identification, as wearing a skirt and pants at the same time is the ultimate example of nonbinary.

Kesha

We have no idea where to begin with this mess. Kesha doesn’t seem to have any single style in mind here, making this outfit a total mishmash of confusion. Her hoodie is cute; her shirt is just fine; together, they are an eyesore. And is her shirt only buttoned at the neck, revealing her bra and bare stomach – is that a fashion statement?

Making this ensemble even more questionable, her huge gold jewelry is way too overwhelming. The multiple heavy chains, the thick hoop earrings, and the thick, oversized glasses are beyond our understanding. Each piece is pretty unappealing separately; paired together, it’s a mess. We think poor Kesha could use a style consultant, or at least a friend telling her not to leave the house like this.

Rita Ora

Traditional fashion sense has always dictated that you can’t mix patterns. For example, plaid and polka dots have never been an acceptable combination. This is because they are too busy-looking when paired together. However, this rule has been relaxed in recent years, and some pattern mixing has become acceptable. But there’s a science to it.

It seems Rita Ora may need a lesson on the finer points of mixing patterns. This look is so confusing, it hurts our eyes. Each piece seems fine on its own, but putting polka dots next to a tribal print of a completely different color seems too whimsical. Adding a graphic handbag in the mix tips the scales on this outfit to “unacceptable.”

Tulisa Contoslavos

Tulisa Contoslavos is an English singer-songwriter-actress who’s ordinarily a pretty sophisticated dresser. So, imagine our surprise when this X Factor judge arrived at an awards show wearing what looked like a bird costume. Was she going as a figure skater doing a flamingo routine? She should demand a do-over from her stylist.

Pink is a perfectly fine color, and it’s quite flattering on Tulisa. However, it’s the abundance of feathers that really kills this dress. Even a few feathers are tricky to pull off on any outfit, but an entire skirt of feathers is an overkill. The plunging neckline is also a bit awkward on this dress. A strapless dress should look more secure and supporting than this does.

Paris Hilton

Clearly, Paris Hilton can afford any piece of clothing she wants. So when she wears this, we know it’s a choice rather than a necessity. That’s what makes this ensemble such a head-scratcher. With her huge entourage, too, you’d hope that somebody would have steered her away from this disaster. But, instead, she looks like she’s a character from some strange futuristic wilderness movie.

A fur top is bad enough to begin with, but this one is a revealing halter style. Fur is usually used for warmth, so this combination doesn’t make any sense. Adding insult to injury, Paris’s pants and shoes were both accented with the same fur. She really ran with this fur theme, and it just doesn’t work. I guess we all have fashion flop skeletons in our closet.

Justin Bieber – Part 2

Oh, dear. A second offense for the Biebs. We just couldn’t overlook this one, though. The beach is appropriate for certain materials, and leather (or is it pleather?) sure isn’t one of them. These super baggy leather bottoms are problematic in any setting, but wearing them to the beach background only highlights their absurdity.

These formless bottoms more closely resemble a black garbage bag rather than shorts. And wouldn’t they cause Justin to sweat in the heat of summer? This super saggy phase of Bieber’s was not his greatest period, and one we sure hope doesn’t get revived. The MC Hammer style should have stayed behind with MC Hammer.

Bjork

Icelandic singer Bjork was heading out in NYC to run some personal errands and was photographed in this frumpy, mismatched outfit. We’re just glad she wasn’t wearing this to a social event but wouldn’t have been surprised if she had. Bjork is well-known for her unusual fashion sense.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is 19-11.jpg

Still, we have to wonder what the singer was thinking when she got dressed that morning. Each piece, from her colorful, patterned leggings, to her platform espadrilles and her unflattering poncho, is eyecatching on its own. Did she intentionally put all this together, thinking this outfit looked good or did she just grab whatever was handy so she could dash out the door? We sure hope it was the latter.

Lizzo

When it comes to fashion, there are certain people in Hollywood that like taking risks. And whilst we understand the need to take certain risks in the fashion world, not all risks are worth taking. At this point in time, we are all pretty much familiar with what works when it comes to fashion and what doesn’t…

And we hate to say it, but this little number is not “it.” We absolutely love Lizzo and her music, but something about this dress isn’t doing it for us. Something about the way the camera catches the light makes this dress not photograph well at all, and that is something serious to consider when walking a red carpet…

Liza Koshy

Winner of several entertainment awards, Liza Koshy is an American YouTube personality, social media star, and actress who is also well-known for her relationship with controversial YouTuber David Dobrik. She was one of the celebrities who stood out the most for her bold style choice on the red carpet of the 2023 Golden Globe.

The actress and comedian caught the media’s attention by wearing a very revealing outfit. The vintage-style dress with its exquisite lace details was indeed eye-catching, especially from the back, where the exposing gown descends exceedingly low with an exposed lace thong. Lisa was courageous for picking a very provocative outfit for the occasion, dividing people’s opinions.

Kourtney Kardashian

We all know that the Kardashians have their own way of doing things. So when it comes to weddings, it should come as no surprise that this family would take it to the extremes. I mean, when you have that much influence, power, and stature, how could you not?

Kourtney and Travis Barker finally tied the knot in Italy in May of 2022, and whilst she wore a white dress to her ceremony, this was one of the wedding week ensembles she wore in Italy. And we have to say, that it is probably one of the strangest wedding-like dresses we have ever seen.

Kanye West

It is no secret that when it comes to Kanye West he is always going to do something to surprise everyone because that’s just who he is. But something we never saw coming was the whole ‘fashion icon” thing Kanye started for himself a few years ago when he came out with the brand Yeezy.

Whilst some of the pieces he designed for Yeezy are best sellers, he doesn’t always hit the nail on the head when it comes to his own fashion choices. You might be asking, “Why is he wearing biker gloves and boots that are comically large?” Well, like many things with Kanye, we don’t have an answer for that.

Tayla Parx

When it comes to people deciding what to wear for big events, it can be hard to know what to do. With people taking things in all different directions, it has the ability to confuse your sense of style, and what you might have considered wearing before. But the most important thing is to feel comfortable in your own skin!

We can assume that singer, and songwriter, Tayla Park is comfortable in her green dinosaur-look-a-like ensemble, but that’s not what we meant… We have absolutely no idea what she was thinking when she came dressed like this to the 2022 Grammy awards. Is it just us, or do you guys also see a resemblance to Bowser from Mario Kart?

Noa Kirel

It is no secret that many people use fashion to make statements all the time… Hence the term “fashion statement.” But most of the time, when people are making these fashion statements, they aren’t always so clear and require the reader or consumer to dig deeper into what the possible meaning might be.

But when Israeli popstar Noa Kirel wore this to the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2022, everyone understood what she was trying to say… After everything that Kanye West has said in the media recently, Kirel decided to show her support for her people with chains dawning the star of David and the symbol of “chai” (life) all over her body.

Reece Feldman

Production assistant Reece Feldman is well known as his TikTok alter ego, guywithamoviecamera. With over 1,5 million followers on the social media platform, he became famous for sharing behind-the-scenes videos from TV and film sets and starred as an actor in Hulu’s Not Okay production. When participating in the 2023 Golden Globe, the content creator shared his backstage interviews with celebrities on his TikTok account.

Dressed to impress, the influencer made his mark at the Awards. Feldman showed a lot of personalities when picking his red-carpet ensemble. He deviated from the traditional tuxedo by wearing a pleated skirt over straight slacks. The bold outfits received many comments on social media, dividing generations’ opinions. While Gen Z praised his style, Boomers found it too woke.

Billy Porter – Part 1

There are some Hollywood celebrities that no matter what will always have something surprising to say, wear or do. And whilst this might confuse some people, it is an effective way to keep us all on our toes. If we always knew what certain celebrities were going to do, that wouldn’t be very fun, would it?

And there is nothing more thrilling than waiting to see what Billy Porter is going to wear to a major event! We have to be honest, we have absolutely no idea what he is trying to do here… To us, it looks like some creepy Halloween costume, but perhaps he looks completely different to others with a differently trained eye?

Taylor Swift

When it comes to Taylor Swift, there isn’t much you can fault her on, considering she is one of the most genuinely lovely singers in all of the music industry. Maybe the only thing anyone can ever fault her on is her fashion choices… I guess you can’t be the best singer and best dressed all at the same time.

And this outfit, unfortunately, proves that point. We love the color, but that’s about all we can say for this outfit choice. What is it even? A bejeweled robe? We wish we had something more positive to say about the princess of pop. Maybe she’ll hit the nail on the head next time?

Kim Kardashian – Part 3

Kim Kardashian sure makes it look hard to dress appropriately when you’re pregnant. This is another pregnant fashion miss from miss Kardashian. For such a fashionable woman, she sure had a challenging time figuring out how to accommodate her growing belly. Of course, most pregnant women would not try quite so hard to dress as if they weren’t carrying precious cargo.

This beige, belted dress might have been cute as a non-maternity outfit. However, the cut did nothing to flatter Kim’s voluptuous, pregnant belly. Even Kim later admitted that this wasn’t her best fashion moment. The dress and stiletto shoes could not have been at all comfortable, either. Sometimes it’s better to just stick to sweatpants.

Tyra Banks

When you get invited to a masquerade ball, the idea is that you wear a mask to cover your face and conceal your identity. However, when Tyra Banks went to the French Vogue Masquerade Ball, she had another idea in mind. We aren’t exactly sure what Tyra was thinking a mask is, but she certainly did not nail this look.

A mask is intended to cover your face and obscure it. This net she’s wearing is questionable, at best. Perhaps she did not want to go unrecognized all evening, but that’s not following the rules of the event. The model is known for her head-to-toe modeling, so maybe she didn’t want to cover her face completely. Don’t get us wrong – we love fishnet stockings, but on legs, not a face.

Machine Gun Kelly

Machine Gun Kelly has recently made a very big appearance in our lives. He has been making music for quite some time, but it feels as though all of a sudden he and his girlfriend, Megan Fox are all over social media and every tabloid outlet.

But this particular appearance isn’t doing them any favors as a couple. Let’s just say that Megan actually looks gorgeous, but perhaps that color pink isn’t the best color choice. But Machine Gun Kelly, I’m sorry, but what were you thinking? The short suit combination, really? As if that wasn’t enough of a fashion crime, he decided to add in all these different shades and textures.

Lenny Kravitz

Everyone knows that when it comes to the Met Gala, celebrities are going to push the boundaries of fashion no matter what. Every year there is a different theme associated with the eventful evening, and there is nothing more interesting than seeing how some people are going to interpret the theme.

The theme of the 2022 Met Gala was “gilded glamor” and it is safe to say that Lenny Kravtiz didn’t exactly dress accordingly. Sure, he is wearing a corset, but the entire outfit isn’t very cohesive. Trust rockstar Leny Kravitz to show up to a red carpet event in black, skin-tight leather pants and a black sheer camisole…

Billy Porter – Part 2

One thing that seemed to really come out of 2020 and 2021 was the idea that people don’t want to go along with the status quo anymore. There was a real feeling resonating in every one of wanting to live your life the way that you see fit.

And we think that Billy Porter has very much managed to successfully defy the status quo when he wore this amazing mint ball gown to the Critics Choice Awards in 2020. We’re sure there are many people out there that will suggest that this look is ridiculous, but we think it is fabulous.

Izabela Goulart

Is it just me, or did 2020 and 2021 change the way that people dressed in their everyday lives? There was something about the whole, not knowing what will happen in our day-to-day lives that allowed people the freedom to dress how they wanted.

And ex-Victoria Secret’s model, Izabela Goulart definitely took that idea in her stride with this getup. It might have been somewhat strange to leave your home wearing just a bra and a jacket, but these days anything is possible in the fashion world, and when you have a body like that.

Kim Petras

We live in an age where we have almost everything we could ever want at our fingertips. If you want to make an outfit out of toothbrushes and flowers, you will probably succeed. There’s no way of knowing whether it’ll look good or not, but you will have the materials to do so.

German singer, Kim Petras wore this outfit to the 2021 Met Gala, and we have to admit, we were a little confused. Is she meant to be a horse or a cat? And what does this have to do with American fashion? At least she got people talking…

Madonna

When it comes to Madonna, we all know that she likes to take risks and make people feel uncomfortable. Even though her approach definitely does make people feel uncomfortable at times, perhaps we should be asking ourselves why we feel uncomfortable in the first place?

But when we see an outfit like this, we don’t really need to ask too many questions about our personal comfort. In 2016 Madonna wore this Givenchy dress to the Met Gala and as per usual, shocked many. Considering her age, Madonna looks absolutely incredible.

Kanye West and Julia Fox

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s divorce was perhaps the biggest celebrity news of 2021. The two have been married for six years and have four children together, but in early 2021, rumors of a possible divorce started to surface. In late February 2021, Kim confirmed the rumors by filing for divorce. The couple’s breakup was as public as their relationship.

It wasn’t long before Kanye started dating model Julia Fox. Less than a year following the divorce, in January 2022, the couple attended Paris fashion week in matching leather outfits. Some people say Kanye’s controversial look was inspired by Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala look – which included a black mask covering her face. Some say it was a gesture to his ex, and others say he straight-up copied her look.

Kanye West and Julia Fox #2

You would think that after starting a new relationship promptly after a huge, public breakup, one would like to keep a low profile. However, it looks like Kanye West is trying pretty hard to put his new relationship in the spotlight. After attending Paris fashion week in matching leather outfits, Kanye West and Julia Fox decided to take their fashion game to the next level.

The couple attended another Paris fashion week event in matching jeans outfits. Kanye completed his denim outfit with black moon boots (the same boots he wore with the leather outfit), and Fox went all out with the denim, including denim boots. To break the all-jeans look, she wore gold earrings and a cropped jacket.

Will Smith

There are some fashion choices that one wouldn’t be caught dead in on the street, let alone the internet. But when you are famous and as famous as Will Smith, then things are bound to make the rounds. For all we know this photo was probably never intended to make it outside of his home.

This particular look is as simple as they come, (barely) dressed from head-to-toe in house clothes. He even has slippers on! The one thing about this particular look though, definitely makes us all feel at ease about the fact that this is exactly what we wear around the house too! We are just lucky enough not to be photographed.

Travis Scott

Dressing as a couple is a very challenging thing to do. Not only do you have to match colors and textures together, but you have to also like what you’re wearing. So who is the person that gets to decide what they’re wearing first? Because that person gets to decide everything. There is always the option of deciding not to go dressed together, but then you might end up like this…

We have to give it to Kylie, even though we don’t understand the whole purple thing, she looks incredible. But Travis, boy, do we have some news for you. First of all, you aren’t a child and this isn’t some make-believe costume party, this is the Met Gala of all places. Travis, next time just wear a suit.

Harry Styles – Part 2

By now, we have all learned not to be shocked when we see Harry Styles sporting an interesting outfit. Not only is his music revolutionary, but so are his outfit choices. Sure, many of these crazy outfits are only for photoshoots, but these photos will still be seen by the rest of the world.

We don’t really know what he was going for in this picture with his pink bike shorts, white braces, and black Mormon-like top hat, but we are sure that the photographer and stylists of this shoot had a vision. His tattoos also definitely impact the style of the shoot…

Nicki Minaj

When you are famous and you are constantly in the spotlight, it must be very difficult to know what to do and what not to do. But when you are someone as influential and outspoken as Nicki Minaj then you are probably prepared to hear backlash from all of the people that don’t approve of you. Before we get into this, Nicki we just want to say, we definitely approve.

We just don’t approve of this outfit choice. From what we can tell you are performing at a concert, and generally speaking artists wear outlandish things to these sorts of things. And this is definitely outlandish. She looks like she is going to an aerobics party either in 1987 or in 2006, either way, it isn’t a great throwback.

ASAP Rocky and Rihanna

Even though they haven’t been dating for that long, Rihanna and ASAP Rocky has quickly become everyone’s favorite celebrity couple. I mean, how could they not when they are both incredibly successful, gorgeous, and a perfect match? But hey, they can’t be good at everything…

We have no idea what either of them was thinking when it came to these outfits. We get it, the Met Gala is all about pushing boundaries and going all out, but this would be confusing for a child. Why has he wrapped himself up in a blanky? And why is Rihanna wearing a black beanie on top of that beautiful diamond crown-like thing?

Helena Bonham Carter

Helena Bonham Carter is an outstanding actress. They say the best actors tend to be somewhat eccentric, and Helena is no exception. She’s usually very experimental and outgoing with her appearance, whether she’s on the red carpet or on the streets of London. But this look is a little extreme even for her.

Helena’s pieces are all entirely mismatched, including that floral sack strapped across her body. To make matters worse, her dress looks pretty baggy, and the loose scarf only adds to the image of too much fabric. Helena is violating multiple fashion laws with this slapdash outfit. Let’s hope the fashion police set her straight!

Bjork – Part 2

Bjork really went out on a fashion limb with this dress, and it landed her in the history books. Her swan dress is one of the most infamous Oscar dresses of all time, and you can see why. Yes, it’s completely quirky and bizarre. In theory, it’s kind of a cute idea; too bad she looks like she has a dead swan hanging around her neck.

If only the swan was her only offense, it might not be that bad. Unfortunately, however, her nude, sparkly stockings are super baggy on her, making her legs look very wrinkly. That’s a common-sense no-no. Then, to top it all off, her shoes aren’t at all appropriate to wear with stockings. We can see the toe seam along her feet, which isn’t a good look on anyone.

Katy Perry – Part 2

Katy Perry lit up the 2010 Met Gala. Literally. She wore this dress that incorporated 24,000 LED lights, and it was much cooler in theory than in practice. Perhaps the idea could have worked if executed differently, but this was not the way to achieve high fashion.

We can clearly see the rope lights sewn into her dress, which really cheapens the look. Perhaps if there were individual bulbs sprinkled throughout the dress, it would have looked more elegant. However, this dress looks like somebody’s mother made a Halloween costume using rope lights. Better luck next time, Katy.

Nicki Minaj – Part 2

Frankly, we don’t even know what to say about this ensemble. What exactly was Nicki Minaj going for with this look? Between her pastel hair, ice cream cone necklace, tube sock thigh highs, and playful… purse (is that what that is?), she seems to maybe be tapping into her inner child.

It also seems a little robotic, so maybe there was a futuristic theme happening here. If that was the idea, then you have to be impressed; this photo is from the 2011 MTV music awards. That’s right, her decorative facemask is entirely ahead of its time. Perhaps that’s what she was going for – wild and innovative.

Celine Dion – Part 2

When it comes to fashion, people always try to be unique and innovative. We can appreciate that Celine Dion wanted to go for a fashion-forward style. However, we aren’t sure this was it. The white satin suit is really stunning. Too bad Celine loses style points for wearing it backward. We would probably be swooning if she wore it front-facing and paired it with a dress shirt and a colorful tie.

However, poor Celine took a misguided approach. We wonder whose idea this was, hers or her stylists? We can’t help imagining Celine telling her horrified stylist, “I have a great idea,” and her stylist not knowing how to talk her out of this disaster. But, hey, the hat is a nice touch!

Kourtney Kardashian – Part 2

There’s a lot to unpack with this outfit, so fasten your seat belts. Perhaps Kourtney Kardashian was trying to compete with her more famous sister, Kim, for attention, but not all attention is good attention. Or maybe Kourtney was just experimenting with trying to find a look all her own.

Whatever her motivation for this fashion horror show, she failed epically. It starts out well, with a white button-down shirt. Unfortunately, things only get worse as you go down. Her gladiator sandals are super cringy, but they aren’t even the worst offense of this outfit. Her bleach-stained, torn, knee-length denim shorts are beyond words.

Ciara – Part 2

When it comes to the Met Gala, there are always going to be very different looks across the board. Not only does everyone interpret the theme differently, but each person also possesses a very different style. And the 2021 Met Gala was where Ciara shined, literally.

Considering that the Met Gala theme was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” in 2021, Ciara pretty much nailed the brief. When we think of America, American football and divas are definitely what comes to mind, and what better way to encapsulate that than by making a ball gown out of a jersey?

Kendall Jenner

Same family, different fashion error. Knit beanie hats aren’t always a good look, but this one especially is one to stay away from. We can’t quite tell what’s happening here. Why is it so large on her head and sitting like that? Kendall is a petite person, to begin with, but this mushroom had overwhelms her small frame.

It might not be that bad if it conformed better to the shape of Kendall’s head. Unfortunately, however, the top of this hat looks more like a Jiffy Pop popcorn container that’s close to exploding. She’s also practically swimming in her oversized jacket, making her look even tinier. We hope she’s at least keeping warm. It sure looks that way.

Kris Jenner

Kendall, Kourtney, Kim, and now Kris – momma bear of the Kardashian-Jenner clan. Mom must have felt left out, so she committed a fashion sin of her own to get on our list. She started off with a very strong foundation. Her jumpsuit is super chic; she really should have left it at that for a fashion win. I guess she’s never heard the saying “less is more.”

She decided to mix things up with a blond wig, which just doesn’t flatter her natural coloring. She seems to have tried to fix that issue with a spray tan; it went slightly off the rails and made her orange. Still, forgivable. It’s the strange jacket that pushes this outfit overboard. What’s with those giant pointy shoulders? Kris looks more Transformer than Kardashian.

Lena Dunham

Lena Dunham’s contribution to the 2019 Met Gala was a headscratcher. The theme was “camp,” which was a little confusing for many of the guests that year. Still, Lena was game and went all-in with her interpretation of that year’s theme for the ball. What a good sport.

Her outfit might have been cute if it had been done correctly. However, her dress is super unflattering, looking like a shapeless potato sack. A cute pink potato sack, but still a bad fit. Clearly, the rubber gloves depicted on her dress tie in with the rubber gloves the actress is wearing, but we just don’t get it. A for effort, Lena.

Robert Pattinson

We think Robert Pattinson looks great no matter what he wears. He’s the kind of guy who could pull off a garbage bag, although we would expect him to have better sense than to wear that to a red carpet event. That’s why we were so surprised that he wore an inappropriate ensemble like this to one.

Formal events have pretty strict guidelines about what’s appropriate. Of course, some items are negotiable, but one thing that’s never in question is pants. Long pants are a requirement for formal wear; there is never a situation where shorts are acceptable. However, Robert pushed the boundaries by wearing shorts to this red carpet evening. But, hey, at least they’re a formal black.

Zendaya

This outfit isn’t a straightforward fashion offense; it’s mostly just weird. A jumpsuit is a typically stylish ensemble, and this one has some great elements. The sheer sleeves with silver stars on them are actually quite adorable. After that, unfortunately, Zendaya’s outfit starts to go a bit off the rails.

What’s up with the horses? And their, um, inappropriate placement? Even if there weren’t horses there, but something else instead, we’d still be skeptical about the open front of her outfit. But even so, why horses? Perhaps Zendaya is just crazy for horses. Next time, we hope she shows her horse love in a different way.

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus was a former Disney star, and growing up and out of Disney had been famously tricky. Miley had her share of stumbles as she tried to establish her identity as a mature, non-Disney celebrity. Often, she tried a little too hard to distance herself from her clean, good-girl image.

Compared to some of her other fashion choices, this one isn’t too bad, actually. Still, the ripped-up tights are pretty horrible. We know you can afford new tights, Miley! You don’t need to keep reusing your old ones. Those blue fringed ankle boots aren’t doing her any favors, either. We appreciate her rock-n-roll approach, but this misses the mark.

Britney Spears

At first glance, this outfit just seems like your run-of-the-mill errand running outfit. After all, even celebrities deserve to roll out of bed and toss on whatever’s nearest without making much effort. And perhaps it’s not fair to judge them when they do; we all have days like these. However, Brittany should have rethought walking out the door in this look.

Her shiny, low-rise leggings are super unflattering. Even a pair of dirty sweatpants would probably look better than this. And her t-shirt can’t decide if it wants to be baggy or a crop top, so it aims to be both things at once. A regular-fitting shirt would have been better. Perhaps the worst part of this outfit, though, is Brittany’s knock-off Ugg boots.

Iggy Azalea

Iggy Azalea mixed a few styles with this outfit and created an eyesore. Fashion common sense dictates to pick just one statement piece and build the rest of your outfit around that. However, every piece in this outfit seems intended to be a statement piece, so they are all competing for attention.

Iggy’s knee-high lace-up open-toed stilettos are a lot to take in. Unfortunately, those shoes alone seem to have too much going on. Then she paired them with a pair of light-colored satin culottes that aren’t even in the same fashion realm as her gladiator style shoes. To top it all off, her jacket looks like something she should be wearing if she’s getting ready to parachute.

Julianne Moore

Poor Julianne Moore had a very bad red carpet fashion experience. First, she started off on the wrong foot with an unflattering dress that made her look oddly shaped. But that wasn’t even the worst part of her evening. To make her outfit even more awkward, the award-winning actress had an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction.

Perhaps we should say she had a shoe malfunction. Her strappy sandals are pretty cute, but they can be hazardous to pinky toes. Apparently, Julianne’s smallest toes slipped out from the straps, leaving them to hang awkwardly out of her high heels. That looks terribly uncomfortable, but Julianne doesn’t seem aware of the problem, or she’s a really good actress.

Kim Kardashian – Part 4

Now we just think Kim likes attention so much that she’ll do anything to get on every celebrity list. How else can we explain her third appearance for a fashion foul? Although, to be fair, this outfit is much better than her previous errors. And at least she’s not pregnant for this one.

Kim’s tunic is a little too busy for our tastes. Its high neck with the cutout decolletage is one style we could do without. The flowing sleeves only make her shirt more confusing. It should have one focus, not three areas. However, Kim really overdoes it by mixing this satin shirt with shiny, leather leggings.

Jennifer Connelly

File this outfit under “What Were You Thinking?” Jennifer Connelly went slightly overboard with her separate clothing items. It almost seems as though she couldn’t decide what she wanted to wear most, so she wore everything all at once. It’s true that “less is more,” a lesson Jennifer really could benefit from.

Mixing a skirt over a pair of pants isn’t unheard of, although it’s never been a great look. That’s fine if Jennifer wants to dabble in layering, but at the very least, she could be wearing pants that fit. However, these are far too long and baggy on her, which is made worse by the flowing skirt. Next time, choose one or the other.

Isabela Moner

Did you ever have one of those days when you couldn’t decide if you should wear pants or shorts? This happens very frequently around the change of seasons. Apparently, Isabela Moner must have had a day like that because she looks like she tried to find some middle ground with the shorts vs. pants question.

These are, without a doubt, the strangest bottoms we’ve ever seen. Are they pants? Are they shorts? What’s with the straps holding the bottom part of the legs in place? We may never know the answers to these questions, but we do know one thing for sure. This was a bad fashion choice.

Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake

We all remember the time pop icons Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake were a couple. Back in the late 90s, when the two went public with their relationship, they weren’t just pop stars, but fashion icons as well. They were the ones who made denim on denim a thing when they showed up on the red carpet wearing full denim suits.

At the time, they were probably pretty happy about their trendsetting look, but looking back at those days, over two decades later, it’s safe to say it’s a look both of them would like to forget. The two split up in 2002 in a messy breakup, but unfortunately for them, those images of the denim outfits would always be on the web to haunt them.

Jared Leto

Actor and singer Jared Leto showed up to the 2019 Met Gala carrying a head. Not just any head, his own head. The actor is known for his over-the-top, eccentric style, so we’re not sure anyone was surprised by this Met Gala look, which can be defined as over-the-top and eccentric.

Gucci was the first brand to present severed heads in their fashion shows, carried by models on the runway in place of handbags. So, it seems only appropriate that Leto completed his Gucci look with his own severed head as an accessory to the Met Gala – an event that celebrates high fashion.

Rita Ora in a bathrobe

Do you know that feeling after a shower, when you’re wrapped in a towel or a fluffy bathrobe and you just can’t find it in you to change into a tight dress? Or you can’t seem to decide what to wear, because you don’t like any of the options and nothing seems to fit right? Sure you do – we’ve all been there before.

Of course, we always do the mature thing, which is to get up and get dressed, because we can’t really leave the house wearing a bathrobe (social conventions don’t allow it). However, if you’re Rita Ora – you can do just that, and get away with it. The singer showed up to an award show – where she was the host – wearing a bathrobe, a towel on her head, white heels, and diamond jewelry.

Rita Ora in Denim

Here we have singer Riat Ora in yet another disaster of a look. We hate to say this, but we almost prefer her bathrobe look. We’ll give her that – she’s possibly the only person who can wear a layered denim outfit and pull it off, but still, just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.

The denim shirt, skirt, and jacket are one thing. But the denim boots are simply taking it too far. We don’t know who advised her to wear this look – but if she was our friend (we wish) and she asked for our opinion, we would’ve advised her against it. What’s with all these celebrities and their denim obsession?

Kim Kardashian – Part 5

Kim Kardashian has to keep the public’s attention one way or another, and one way of making headlines is through fashion. That’s probably why celebrities sometimes dress in an eccentric, whimsical style – to attract attention. We’re pretty sure that’s what Kim was trying to do with this outfit. Otherwise, we simply can’t explain it.

I mean, who would think of wearing a leather corset over an oversized t-shirt, paired with tights and heels? Or maybe this was a late morning, she was in a hurry, and these were the first items she was able to grab from her walk-in closet? It must be hard finding the right clothes every morning when your closet is the size of a house! It must take hours to find anything in there.

Bella Hadid

Bella Hadid is typically the top of fashion. This is because she generally looks fantastic, whatever she wears. She’s such a style icon that most people don’t even question what she wears; it’s just commonly accepted as stylish. This outfit, however, really begs for a re-evaluation of Bella’s fashion sense.

This skin-tight turtle neck crop top mixes all kinds of trends that don’t mix well together. But, sadly, that’s not even the worst part of Bella’s outfit. We can’t quite tell what’s happening on her legs, but it seems to us as if she is wearing denim cut-off Bermuda shorts over a pair of full-length jeans. Fashion often requires taking risks, but this was one risk best left untaken.

Kim Kardashian – Part 6

When it comes to Kim K’s fashion sense, it is sometimes a hit or a miss. Having been married to a rapper turned fashion designer, you are likely to be influenced by many different designers and their looks. Some however are definitely more successful than others.

Don’t get us wrong, we love a strong velour look, but something about this just isn’t doing it for us. Perhaps it is the color, the style, and the shoe choice altogether that is throwing us off. As much as this isn’t doing anything for her, she somehow still looks incredible.
