Fighting in el-Fula: RSF takes control of capital of West Kordofan

Sources tell Al Jazeera that Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces have taken control of el-Fula, that’s capital of the West Kordofan State.
Fighting in el-Fula between the Sudanese army and the RSF lasted several hours before the army reportedly withdrew from the city.

Al Jazeera’s Hiba Morgan has the latest from Khartoum, Sudan.

Amgad Fareid Eltayeb is the Executive Director of Fikra for Studies and Development.
He was also the former assistant chief of staff to former prime minister Abdallah Hamdok during the transitional period in Sudan.
He says the taking of el-Fula is the RSF’s first major win in months.
