Hamas has downplayed optimism by the US president that a ceasefire deal with Israel is imminent.
A senior member of the group’s political wing, Bassem Naim, told Al Jazeera Hamas is still waiting for an official proposal.
The U.S. State Department, however, remains optimistic an agreement can be reached.
