Hezbollah may not announce Nasrallah’s successor soon: Analysis
It is possible for Hezbollah to not announce a leader for some time because whoever succeeds Nasrallah will also be a target for a possible assassination, Ali Rizk, a security and political analyst, says.
“Recently, the new commander of the Radwan Force was assassinated by Israel just a few days after he was appointed following the assassination of his predecessor. So I think that Hezbollah has to address these gaps and this apparent infiltration compromise which has taken place within its ranks before it can clearly declare who is in fact going to occupy those senior positions,” Rizk told Al Jazeera.
“I think that Hezbollah still possesses the capabilities to launch some painful attacks on the Israeli side. More importantly, Hezbollah is in a race against time because Israel is not letting up.”
