Is a ceasefire in Gaza possible? | Inside Story

The latest round of negotiations on a ceasefire in Gaza has resumed in Cairo.
An Israeli delegation is there — and Hamas has also sent representatives.
After months of talks, US President Joe Biden is reported to have written to mediators in Qatar and Egypt urging them to pressure on Hamas to accept a deal.
But the armed group says it will not deviate from its demand for a permanent ceasefire – something Israel has ruled out.
So can the two sides reach common ground this time?
And what leverage do mediators have to secure a deal?
