Israel’s war on Gaza: Situation grim in Khan Younis, deteriorating in Bureij
The security situation in Khan Younis, located in the southern Gaza Strip, is rapidly deteriorating. The military initiated an operation 24 hours ago, allowing residents little time to flee their homes. Eyewitnesses report attacks on people attempting to escape. According to the Gaza government media office, 89 Palestinians have been killed and over 329 wounded in the past 24 hours in Khan Younis. Additionally, 68 individuals are missing under the rubble as search teams struggle to access the eastern areas due to ongoing clashes between Hamas operatives and Israeli forces. The al-Mawasi area is no longer considered a "safe humanitarian zone" as it is now an operation site for the Israeli army. The situation is also worsening in Bureij, where the Israeli military is slowly advancing, destroying residential houses.
Al Jazeera’s Tareq abu Azzoum reports from Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.
