Japan’s prime minister to step down, Fumio Kishida, won’t seek his party’s leadership again
Japan’s Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, has announced he is dropping out of his party’s leadership race next month. With the Liberal Democratic Party controlling both houses of parliament, that means whoever wins the vote will succeed him as prime minister. His decision follows a series of corruption scandals and historically low approval ratings.
