Journalists, including Al Jazeera reporter, severely wounded as Israel attacks Rafah

Two journalists have been injured in an Israeli drone strike just north of Rafah, in southern Gaza.
Al Jazeera correspondent Ismail Abu Omar is one of them.
A cameraman Ahmad Matar was also hit. Matar is in serious condition.
Both have been transferred to the European Hospital for treatment.

Dr Muhammad al-Astal, emergency physician at the European Hospital in Khan Younis, says Al Jazeera reporter Ismail Abu Omar’s life is at risk after suffering severe injuries.

Abu Omar had his right leg amputated but pieces of shrapnel remain in his head and chest, al-Astal said.

The journalist has been undergoing surgery for severe bleeding from a possible cut in the femoral artery.

Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud has the latest from Rafah.
