Karem Abu Salem crossing closed after rocket attack from Gaza: Israel’s army

The Israeli military says Karem Abu Salem (Kerem Shalom) crossing with Gaza has been closed to aid trucks after the area came under fire.
“About ten rockets were detected that crossed from near the Rafah crossing towards the Kerem Shalom area,” a statement on X said.
Earlier reports said several were injured in the attack that hit an area near a military position.
On Israel’s decision to shut down Al Jazeera operations in Israel, the decision represents a culmination of efforts to suppress criticism of events in Gaza. Documented atrocities, including famine and violations of international law, have drawn ire from the Israeli government. The ban is viewed locally as an attempt to stifle voices advocating for the oppressed and occupied, seen as a bid to obstruct fair reporting on the situation.

Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud reports from Rafah in southern Gaza and Bernard Smith is in Ramallah in the occupied West Bank to discuss the latest updates.
