Following a worldwide online blackmail campaign that targeted thousands of young girls, including a 12-year-old girl in the United States who committed suicide, a 26-year-old man from Northern Ireland was sentenced to life in prison. After confessing to 185 crimes involving 70 youngsters, Alexander McCartney, who pretended to be a teenage girl in order to entice victims, was given a life sentence with a minimum of 20 years.
