Netanyahu wants a ceasefire where Hamas ceases and Israel fires: Marwan Bishara
Al Jazeera’s senior political analyst, Marwan Bishara, highlights that Hamas’s decision indicates it is now trusting the Egyptian proposal, signaling that the offer may be worth considering. However, he emphasizes that Israel and its Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, are under no immediate pressure to pursue a ceasefire.
"Israel continues to destroy and kill dozens of Palestinians every day," Bishara noted, adding that they keep adding conditions to proposals while "taking their time." He suggests that two things have remained constant since the war began: Israel can continue to "kill and negotiate simultaneously," and the US will consistently provide them with "all the weapons they need."
