Pro-Palestine protesters condemn German president over Israel support in Istanbul
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has faced protests in Istanbul over his country’s support for Israel in its ongoing war in Gaza.
Steinmeier, accompanied by Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, was met with chants from a group protesting Germany’s stance during his visit on Monday to Istanbul.
Police quickly intervened to suppress the protest at an event to mark a century of diplomatic ties between Germany and Turkey.
