In an unexpected cross-border assault, Ukraine declared that it would not cling onto Russian territory and that it would cease its attacks in exchange for Moscow agreeing to a "just peace."
Ukrainian soldiers invaded Russia’s Kursk region, seizing more than two dozen communities in the largest foreign military assault on Russian territory since World War II. More than 120,000 people have left the region, and Oleksandr Syrsky, the head of Ukraine’s armed forces, stated that his forces were in possession of around 1,000 square kilometers of Russian land.
