Saudi Arabia’s $500 Billion Mountain Resort

Everyone loves a good ski resort, right? When you think of ski resorts, you think about several of the greatest mountain ranges the world has to offer. That would be in places like Colorado and the Swiss Alps. Both bring in millions of dollars due to their huge tourism industries. People desperately want to hit those slopes. People also want to desperately clone that success. Countries all over the world are trying to get in on this wintery goldmine. Who can blame them, really? The most surprising country to be adding their name to this list is the one and only Saudi Arabia. The famously hot and desertous country is far from the first one you think of when you think of snowy mountains to snow down.

The resort looks unbelievable. It’s some sort of science fiction paradise. Just wait until you see it. You won’t believe your eyes.

It will actually be the next location to host the Asian Winter Games. Think winter Olympics with the figure skating, skiing and curling you’d expect. Though this has proven to be something of a controversial move that will see some athletes skip the competition.

This is actually only a small part of a huge megacity project that looks to build a wintery Wakanda in Saudi Arabia. This entire project has hit some big snags but still hopes to be an ambitious success, despite its huge budget of hundreds of billions of dollars.

So what is up with Saudi Arabia’s new ski resort? Only one way to find out!
