Security breach from pager blasts is a ‘multi-layered problem’ for Hezbollah: Defence researcher
Hamze Attar, a defence researcher, says the security breach that resulted in a series of violent pager blasts is a “multi-layered problem” for the Lebanese group Hezbollah. “It’s a problem mainly with communication,” Attar told Al Jazeera.
He said there are three possibilities how the sabotage was executed:
• Israel managed to intercept the cargo of pagers and weaponize them.
• It compromised one of the device’s components somewhere in the supply chain
• Israel targeted the microprocessors and “overloaded” them, causing the battery to blow up
