Thousands fleeing south Lebanon as Israel and Hezbollah continue to trade fire

At least 492 people, including 35 children, have been killed in a day of unrelenting Israeli attacks on Lebanon, according to the country’s Health Ministry. At least 1,645 were wounded.
Tens of thousands in southern Lebanon fled their homes following evacuation orders by the Israeli army amid ongoing airstrikes. Many relocated to cities like Sidon or Beirut, with constant bombardments making travel perilous. The Lebanese government is preparing shelters, but more assistance is needed, given the country’s economic collapse and the growing number of displaced people.
In response, Hezbollah has fired a barrage of rockets into northern Israel.
The group says it’s targeted military bases, airfields and an explosives factory 60 kilometres from the border.
Israel says the Iron Dome missile defence system intercepted most of the rockets.

Al Jazeera is covering this story from various locations. Zeina Khodr is in Siden, Lebanon’s third largest city, and Imran Khan is reporting from Marjayoun in southern Lebanon, where Israeli airstrikes are ongoing.
