UK government approves controversial plan to cut winter fuel payments for elderly
The UK government has approved a plan to cut winter fuel payments for pensioners, excluding only the lowest-income retirees. This decision will reduce allowances by up to nearly 400 dollars annually for many elderly individuals. Despite attempts by the conservative opposition to block the cut, the measure has passed. Prime Minister Keir Starmer justifies the reduction as necessary due to the current economic situation.
