US diplomacy ramps up: Senior officials visit Israel
A senior commander of the US Department of Defense is due to visit Israel on Wednesday.
Michael Kurilla is head of the United States Central Command.
He’ll be discussing the latest developments on Iran.
Two senior advisers to President Biden are also reported to be due in Israel on Thursday.
They’ll be discussing ways to end the conflict in Lebanon.
Al Jazeera’s Nour Odeh reports from Jordan’s capital Amman, because Israel has banned Al Jazeera from reporting inside Israel.
Mairav Zonszein is the senior Israel Analyst with International Crisis Group.
She says that Israeli officials may be seeking to negotiate from a position of strength,
but whether a deal will allow Israelis to return to homes near the border is still unclear.
