US plans more air strikes on Iran-backed groups: White House
The US intends to carry out additional air strikes against Iran-backed groups in the Middle East, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan has told NBC News.
“We intend to take additional strikes and additional action to continue to send a clear message that the United States will respond when our forces are attacked,” he said.
Separately, White House national security spokesman John Kirby told Fox News that Friday night’s US strikes against Iran-backed groups were just the “first round” of action and more would follow.
The US has bombed 85 alleged Iran-linked targets in Iraq and Syria in retaliation for an attack that killed American soldiers in Jordan last week.
