US: Republican-led house impeaches homeland security secretary Alejandro Mayorkas
In the United States, Republican-led House of Representatives has voted to impeach the Homeland Security Secretary, over what they say is his failure to enforce border protection.
Alejandro Mayorkas is the first cabinet member to be impeached in nearly 150 years.
Republicans are accusing him of mishandling a surge of unauthorised migrant crossings at the U-S Mexico border.
Arrests there reached an all-time high in December.
President Joe Biden has called the impeachment unconstitutional, and says the border issue has become a political game.
