US Secretary of State says ‘now is the time’ to end Gaza war
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is on his way to Saudi Arabia.
It’s the second stop on his diplomatic tour of the region. Blinken is hoping to revive ceasefire talks to end the war in Gaza. On Tuesday he met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog.
Blinken reiterated Washington’s "ironclad commitment" to Israel’s security.
But he’s urged it to take advantage of the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar to work towards a ceasefire.
Al Jazeera’s Nour Odeh has the latest from the Jordanian capital, Amman because the Israeli government has banned Al Jazeera from reporting in the occupied West Bank and from inside Israel.
